poem

 Love is Acceptance

The older you get the less you love

 You grow quieter and calmer.

Instead of loving you become accepting

Barely noticing the difference.

All along life has been sanding it down

To the smooth hilt

That fits perfectly in your hand

Love is for the young, the angry, the lonely

Love is their only salvation

But even love won’t save you from this

My own sword is so light

Everyone assumes it’s only pretend

To parry or thrust is effortless

All this time, it was only a matter of yes

In the end, you have to say yes
